Projects
Two of the key infrastructure development projects are Kulevi Oil Terminal and Qaradagh Sangachal Oil Terminal:
  • To create conditions for accommodating larger vessels in Azerbaijan coast, up to 300 millions US Dollars are committed for the investment in the construction of the Qaradagh Sangachal Oil Terminal
  • The Kulevi Oil Terminal is to become operational due to 380 million US Dollars investments made since 2006 to complete this terminal that had been under construction for 6 years prior to the acquisition by SOCAR
Please see Facts for technical overview of these two facilities, among others.

Complimentary projects:
  • Upgrades and expansion of the existing RTC and locomotive fleets
  • Overhauls and upgrades of the critical railway track sections
  • Envisioned incremental increases in throughput capacity from 14.4 MLNMTA to 18 MLNMTA in 2008, 22 MLNMTA in 2009 and 25 MLNMTA in 2010 in full cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Georgian State Railways
  • Raising HSSE standards

Cross Caspian Oil and Gas Logistics LLC started transporting Tengiz Oil

Beginning October 2008, Cross Caspian Oil and Gas Logistics LLC started transportation of crude oil produced from the Kazakh field of Tengiz, operated by Tengizchevroil, a consortium including Chevron, ExxonMobil, KazMunayGaz and Lukarco JV.

Tengizchevroil’s crude is transported across the Caspian Sea by shipping companies of both Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, Caspian Shipping Company of the Azerbaijan Republic and KazMorTransFlot. In Azerbaijan, the crude is received into terminal facilities for transshipment and storage. Further, the oil is delivered either to the BTC system through the interconnection pipeline facilities and/or by rail to the Black Sea Ports of Georgia.
